Physical Analog VU Meters Inside Your DAW
What if you could monitor any signal from your DAW with physical analog VU-meters? Check this out!
This DIY project is a rack of 10 MIDI controlled VU-meters that can be controlled from anywhere in your DAW with the DP Meter Pro plug-in.
The rack was built with a Teensy microcontroller (MCU) that simply translates MIDI coming thru the USB port into analog signals to drive the vu meters and LEDs. Metering and ballistics are managed with the DP Meter Pro plug-in:

    How to set it up and then record it together with a band? do i need a mixer for that? or just connect everthing into a DAW? from what i know is that a DAW can only play a single instrument, it'll be a problem if guitars and drums both use plugins and we cant play together. much appreciated if question is answered

    • @bluecataudio
      @bluecataudio Місяць тому

      You can load PatchWork as a plug-in into a DAW and do the exact same thing within the DAW. Most DAWs let you play and record multiple instruments at the same time these days. As a simple alternative, you can also use Fader Hub instead of PatchWork and load/record all your virtual instruments inside Fader Hub: www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_FaderHub/

  • @teddym2808

    Ok so I know you read here so will give you thoughts after giving the plugin a real go. Well, this is by far the best 'overall' delay plugin on the market. The stuff it can do is insane, for want of a better word. It's VERY powerful. My gripes? I have never seen a delay plugin before that doesn't use the traditional 1/8, 1/8d or t, 1/4 etc divisions, and I don't know if I can get used to it over time, as my brain is wired to a certain way of thinking, and to be completely honest, I don't understand WHY you have taken this approach or at least not given us the options of the standard subdivisions. Please consider this. Secondly, I think I have learned the plugin pretty well now in advanced GUI mode. However, I am a bit disappointed that I can't replicate a really nice distorted tape delay extreme feedback effect, well at least I have been unsuccessful thus far. On Windows, you can put a plugin called analogic delay on the tap insert (via jbridge as it's an old 32 bit plug), set the delay of that plugin to zero and just drive the feedback, as that plugin was written to mimic Logic's superb sounding feedback saturation. On Mac, well.... I mean I have yet to find the right combo of plugins to help me achieve that sound, and I really think a vintage saturation mode should be built in. Thirdly, I can't see a way to modulate parameters within the actual plugin. Sure, I can use a filter effect on a "late reply" that has its own modulation, but then I keep having to go to third party, when it should be built in. Your own filter inserts are just static which is really disappointing. That said, adding a talking modulator synced to host tempo to a reply was pretty nuts, it sounded so awesome (audiothing orb filter). Crazy stuff in the best possible way. For a delay that is so highly priced and is SO powerful otherwise, I am just more than a little surprised that these things have been overlooked. It's still. a buy, but as a previous customer I am going to wait for the usual email to tell me there are customer discounts available, as 200 AUD is just too much. It's also frustrating me no end that I can't seem to change my registered email address and that email I previously used is LONG gone from an OLD ISP, I switched ISP last year, so I'd be missing any blue cat customer offers *anyway*, and your support team did not answer my request to change my email to my new one that I sent about a month back, so yes, I am frustrated, and if I miss a sale I will be bummed.

    Now all that's missing are LFOs/envelopes... like in "Multipass" to control plugin parameters. Then it would be a better alternative to Kilohearts (because of the possibility of integrating VSTs, which "Multipass" is missing..."). Then I would finally have the perfect multi-effects plugin! So I'll continue to use my beloved "Multipass" and hope for more good "Snapins" or maybe VST support at some point. But for those who don't need these functions, the MB-7 mixer is certainly the better alternative.

All I really want to do is be able to sync one stereo audio stream, so I can preview loops in Live's browser to project temp in DP, since DP doesn't have preview to tempo functionality, and what I used to use Rewire for.

    Why does wifi have to be off?

      Just to avoid using the WiFi connection by mistake... You want to make sure you use the wired connection here, or the latency will be much larger.

    Piezos sound like ass compared to actually using a microphone. I’m not a snob or old school gatekeeper keeper. I produce at home by myself and for myself and I’ve tried every possibility with piezo and it always sounds like ass, in my opinion. Of course, if you don’t have a microphone and you want to record, use the piezo. Don’t ever let that stop you from recording but if you do have access to a decent mic, it’s way better to learn how to use it. The results will be infinitely better

      Well, have you tried the plug-in? RAW piezo is indeed awful!

      The is indeed no possible sync between transports using the plug-in (plug-ins do not have access at transport and sync, unfortunately).

    Would be cool to see a tutorial about how to collaborate via internet as a plug in a daw, how does the sync work in this case ?

      That's indeed in the plans. There is no host transport sync, but you can record someone "live" remotely. There are more details about this in the manual
